What Is Coinrule?

Coinrule is a smart-assistant assistant that trades on your behalf on your crypto wallet. 

To do that, Coinrule requires an API key that you can create in a few steps on the exchange. As a safety feature, API keys 

. Coinrule encrypts and stores every API key separately for each user as an additional measure of security. 

All Coinrule can do on your wallet is to buy and sell coins according to your instructions.

Each exchange has different processes to create and enable the APIs. You will find here how to connect the most popular exchanges.

As a first step, log in with your credentials to 

 and select your account settings on the top right and click on "API Management." 

Select "Create API", then Binance will ask to confirm the API creation according to your security settings.

Once the API is created, make sure that it has the permissions flagged, as shown here.

Now edit the restrictions of the API. First, select

. Copy the list of IPs on Coinrule and paste it on Binance.

Connect your Binance account to start trading on 

Finally, copy/paste the API and Secret Key on the Exchanges page in the Coinrule App.​

The process is the same as above, apart from these two steps.

As a last step copy/paste the API key and Secret Key on Coinrule.

, you will need to create an API Key that will allow you to create an automated trading bot on KuCoin. 

1. First, you will need to sign in or create an account with KuCoin. You will also need to set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Once signed in and on the homepage, hover over the profile icon on the top right of the page and select “API Management” from the drop-down menu. 

2. Next, select “Create API” with “Spot/Margin API” selected. Then name your API and create an API Passphrase.

For additional security, we recommend you select IP restrictions and add your trusted IP addresses. Coinrule will never request to transfer your exchange funds so do not enable API “Transfer”.

The demo exchange provides what is obtainable when using paper trading on Binance. 

This means that you can trade with the provided allocation, in the same conditions as live trades, giving a realistic overview of your likely results when you use live trades.

Usually, the major difference between the demo and live trades is the emotions associated. With Demo rules, you have the luxury of making right or wrong trading decisions and learning from them without hurting your asset.

What is the Difference Between Demo and Live Rule

, the price used will be the Top 1 ask price in the Binance Order Book when buying or the Top 1 bid price when selling. 

 work similarly to market orders and use the top 1 ask or bid price. However, the price used is the better price out of either Binance Order Book or current Market price. 

The main difference between Live and Demo Rules will be on low-volume coins that have less liquidity. In those cases were the 'Top 1' execution price might not be available, prices could be less accurate. Including an additional condition for volume or market cap could help reduce the differences between paper trading and real trading.

Demo orders include a simulated 0.1% Binance fee. When buying, the fee is taken from the Quote currency and when selling from the Base currency. As an example, if you are trading the BTC/USDT pair, the fee is paid in USDT when buying or in BTC when selling.

A difference between Demo and Live trading is that on Binance, exchange fees can be paid in BNB with a discount. This is not taken into account on our Demo Exchange.

Your guide to testing trading strategies without any risk involved

How The Demo Exchange Works

Anticipating market moves is the backbone of any trading strategy. Traders need to have an understanding of where the trend is heading, and if there are any signals that show that the trend is changing. Crypto charts are essential tools for beginners. 

Crypto charts provide valuable insight into the trend of an asset. Reading properly specific patterns helps beginners improving the returns of their strategies significantly. Looking closely at a price on a crypto chart allows traders to fine-tune their trading system. There are several types of candlestick patterns. Recognizing them enables even beginner traders to get a better idea of the upcoming direction of the asset.

The best way to look at the crypto chart is to analyze the trend from a medium or long-term perspective. A chart set on a daily or weekly time frame is an ideal starting point before zooming in and taking more specific conclusions. 

Chart patterns that form on higher time frames are much more reliable, and you can use them to start an automated trading strategy based on the signal provided.

Characteristics to look for on the crypto chart:

Price closing at the top quarter of the range

The lower shadow is two or three times the length of the body

A hammer is a bullish reversal pattern that forms after a decline in price.

Once the market opened a large number of token holders sold, pushing the price down, however before the candle closed, buying momentum pushed the price back higher.

This momentum was so strong that the closing price finished above the opening price.

The hammer signifies a bullish reversal and shows that the buyers are coming in strong into the market.

The first candle is bearish while the second candle is bullish.

The body of the second candle completely overwhelms and covers the first candle.

When looking at a crypto chart, this pattern shows that the seller’s momentum in the first candle was overtaken by buying power of the bulls, who then pushed the price up.

The pattern when printed on a crypto chart indicates that the trend is reversing and becoming bullish. 

A morning star is a 3-candle bullish reversal pattern which forms after a decline in the price.

The second candle has an extremely small range.

The third candle exhibits an aggressive upwards momentum.

Sellers push down the price in the first candle, buying and selling power are even in the second candle, and in the third candle, Sellers are exhausted and buyers push the price up.

Observing the morning star pattern on a crypto chart, tells you that the sellers have been exhausted after fighting with the buyers and the market is now bullish.

The shooting star is a 1-candle bearish reversal pattern.

Price closes at the bottom quarter of the range.

The upper shadow is about double the length of the body

There was a lot of buying pressure at the open of the market that pushed the price up, however before the candle close there was huge selling pressure pushing the price down.

This pattern when printed on the crypto chart signals a bearish reversal and shows that the selling pressure is strong in the market.

A Bearish Engulfing Pattern is a 2-candle bearish reversal candlestick pattern.

The second candle is bearish and large enough to overtake the first candle.

Buying momentum is in the first candle, but the selling pressure overwhelms and prints a lower low.

The Bearish Engulfing Pattern shows that the sellers have overwhelmed the buyers and are now have momentum.

An Evening Star is a 3-candle bearish reversal candlestick pattern.

The third candle has a strong bearish close.

We see that in the first candle buyers have more momentum, closing the candle with a higher price. This is followed by a candle where there are equal buying and selling pressure. Eventually, the bears take over and push the price down.

The Evening Star tells you the buyers are exhausted and the sellers are momentarily in control.

This shows that the seller’s momentum in the first candle was overtaken by buying power of the bulls, who then pushed the price up.

 How To Enable Two-Factor Authentication On Coinrule

Coinrule's API keys don't have withdrawal rights on your funds.

 They are safely stored on the exchange at any time. The API connection only allows the bots to trade your funds on your behalf.

Two-Factor Authentication prevents unauthorized access to your account by asking you to enter an additional code when you sign in. You will install the 

 that will generate the needed code at any time.

It's easy, quick, and adds a significant layer of security over your funds.

Follow these steps to opt in to Two-Factor Authentication.

Install the Google Authenticator app for 

On the Settings page, use the toggle to switch on the Two-Factor Authentication.

Scan the code using the Google Authenticator app.

Safely store your Two-Factor Authenticator's backup codes in case you will lose access to your mobile device.

, you will need to digit the code to confirm the access.

You can disable Two-Factor Authentication from the Settings page at any time. To confirm the request, input the 2FA code. 

However, this is an essential security feature, and we advise you to keep it enabled to protect your account.

If you lose your mobile device or anything prevents you from getting the 2FA code, you should contact support[at]coinrule.com or send us a message using the chat messenger. After the required verification process, Coinrule will restore access to the account.

How to Create, Edit and Delete Baskets on Coinrule

Coinrule has introduced a new feature 'Baskets'. With Baskets, you can save your favorite coins as a basket and also ‘exclude’ them with the ‘Do Not’ operator. Coinrule’s latest product update allows users to program their rules to only operate on specific basket of coins whilst excluding all other coins in the market. Users can choose to create their own basket or use any of our curated Coinrule basket.

We have five available baskets ready to use with more being added soon:

This basket will focus your rule to only trade coins that are related to decentralized finance. DeFi is targeting a $100 trillion dollar industry and is the biggest use case for crypto.

This basket will allow your rule to only trade the 10 highest market cap coins. These coins should have strong volume and liquidity meaning they can work well when using limit orders. This basket excludes stablecoins that are in the Top 10.

 This basket specifically features coins that are layer 1s and use a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. Proof-of-stake secures the network through validators staking their coins and compared to proof-of-work is more energy efficient. Increasing ESG compliance has led to these coins increasing in popularity with high potential that this trend will continue.

This coin basket bases all trades on coins that are NFT-related. When the NFT hysteria returns as NFT adoption increases, this is the basket to use! During the previous bear market, NFTs were also some of the hardest hit making them possible candidates for shorting.

 This basket allows your rule to only trade gaming-related coins. Gaming is arguably one of the most obvious industries for increased property ownership provided by NFTs and blockchain. Will the mass of gamers step on board the crypto gaming train?

Users can design their own bespoke baskets to trade with. When selecting coins on the rule editor page, simply add all the coins you wish to add to the basket then click “Create basket”:

After clicking ‘Create basket’ users will be required to name the basket according to their preference and click ‘Save’. Once this is done, the basket will be successfully created.

Once a basket has been created, users can edit the basket to add various coins and also add a description. To edit a created basket when creating a rule, simply click on the Coin list dropdown and scroll down to ‘My baskets’: 

Users can edit an existing basket under the ‘My baskets’ list, by clicking ‘View/Edit’ on the right of the Coin list dropdown. After clicking view/edit, users will be directed to the Curated baskets section where they can edit the title of their baskets, add a description to the basket for a personalised experience and add to the basket by selecting from a variety of coins and clicking ‘save’ at the bottom of the page:

Users can delete a basket while on the ‘My baskets’ page by clicking ‘Delete basket’ at the bottom on the page:

Baskets can allow you to hone your rules to only operate on coins that are in line with your strategy. Imagine you’re very bullish on the future of the NFTs. You could design a bot that buys any coin in the NFT basket whose price has decreased by 5% in the past 24 hours. You could use this specification to prevent your rule from buying tops and automatically accumulate coins in the NFT space and hold them for the long term:

Similarly, if you don’t like your rules trading with gaming coins, you could simply use the DO NOT operator and specify your rules to not buy any coins contained within the ‘Gaming’ basket:

You can now save your favorite coins as a basket when trading futures on Coinrule. This allows users to program their rules to only operate on specific baskets of coins whilst excluding all other coins in the market.
